The Plot: "The Quick and the Dead"

As part of the JLApe event, Gorilla City’s political landscape spills over into the human world.

• The Simian Transformation: Wally West is transformed into a super-speeding gorilla. While it's visually fun (penciled by the legendary Pop Mhan), the story focuses on Wally's struggle to maintain his human consciousness and speed-force connection while fighting primal instincts.
• Solovar’s Legacy: The story deals with the assassination of the peaceful King Solovar and the rise of a more militant gorilla faction.
• The Black Flash: This issue is highly regarded because it features a significant appearance/lore expansion of the Black Flash(the personification of Death for speedsters). It ties the "monkey business" into the deeper, darker mythology of the Speed Force.
