The Plot: "The Shifting Sands"

Wally is now moving so fast that he is beginning to "ghost"—becoming intangible and invisible to the naked eye for periods of time.

• Betrayal or Protection? Wally continues to train Jesse Quick to be the next Flash, but his methods are increasingly harsh. This issue contains the famous friction between them, as Jesse begins to realize Wally might be using her as a "decoy" for the Speed Force's pull.
• Max Mercury’s Wisdom: As the "Zen Master of Speed," Max Mercury provides the spiritual exposition for the Speed Force. He is the only one who truly understands that Wally isn't just "running fast," he is being summoned by a higher dimension.
• Kobra’s Endgame: The Kobra cult’s plan to induce a massive earthquake in Keystone City begins. The scale of the threat is meant to show that only a Flash operating at "Terminal Velocity" has a hope of stopping it.
