Titled "A Swiftly Tilting Planet," this issue is the high-velocity Part 2 of the "Dead Heat" crossover. If #108 was the introduction of the threat, #109 is where the scale of Savitar's power is fully realized, and the Flash family begins to fracture under the pressure.

The Plot: "Dead Heat, Second Lap"

The "God of Motion," Savitar, has begun his plan to strip every speedster on Earth of their powers, and the consequences are immediate.

• The Origin of Savitar: This is the key lore issue where Wally and his allies discover Savitar’s past. He was a Cold War pilot who gained his powers after his experimental plane was struck by lightning—but unlike Barry or Wally, he treated the Speed Force as a religion, becoming its first "high priest."
• A Powerless Family: While Wally retains his speed (due to his unique "mainline" connection), Jay Garrick, Jesse Quick, and Johnny Quick find their powers fading. This creates a fascinating dynamic where the veterans are forced to rely on their wits while Wally has to carry the physical burden of the fight.
• The Return of Iris West: The legendary Iris West-Allen makes a significant appearance, bringing her perspective on the speedster legacy and the dangers of the Speed Force.
• The Fate of Max Mercury: The issue deals with the fallout of Max Mercury’s disappearance in the previous issue. His deep knowledge of the Speed Force is gone right when the family needs it most.
