The Plot: "Trouble in Paradise"

Flash and Dale Arden are separated from Zarkov and the primary rebel forces, leading them to discover an isolated, high-tech sanctuary hidden within the arctic wastes.

• The Arctic City: At first, the city of Frigia(reimagined here from the classic "Ice Kingdom") seems like a utopia. It is a clean, peaceful, and technologically advanced society that has seemingly opted out of Ming’s war.
• The Dark Secret: The "paradise" comes with a gruesome price. Flash discovers that the city's peace is maintained through a ritualistic "culling" or a hidden biomechanical cost that involves the local population.
• Flash as the Disruptor: In classic 1988 Flash style, he can’t sit idly by. His attempt to save a local victim ends up bringing the wrath of the city’s robotic guardians down upon him and Dale.
• Ming’s Shadow: Even in the farthest frozen reaches, Ming’s influence is felt. The issue reveals that Frigia’s "independence" is actually a calculated experiment by Ming to test new forms of social control.
